Self-Care

On this journey of starting a company with a full time job, I had to start paying attention to taking care of myself more than ever. Something that I did by way of fitness but I didn’t do as much for my mind and emotions. Trust me, I have not been meditating my whole life.

I have to ask: Are you taking care of yourself?

September is self-care awareness month and suicide awareness month. Friend, it is not lost on me how very connected those two things can be.

So this month, I’ll be jammin’ on some simple self-care actions you can be taking to help improve your everyday life and happiness.

I’m not doing this because “self-care” is trendy (although there could be worse trends), I’m doing it because you are WORTH IT. Self-care is not a luxury friend, it is something we NEED and DESERVE.

So where do we even start?

Ask yourself this question: If you could give your younger self advice, what would be? (No, seriously...take 5 minutes).

Do you have it?

Ready for this?  

Odds are, that something you came up with right now in this moment, is actually what you need RIGHT NOW.

WHOA! I loved this exercise.  My advice to myself:

  • You are doing the best you can

  • Don’t get so focused on the goal you forget to enjoy the ride and see what is happening around you

Yup. That advice was exactly what I needed to hear right now.

Self-care is a requirement my friend. Taking care of yourself allows you to be the best version of yourself. We have to keep the cup full or we won’t have anything to give.
