Who the heck is Shirley!? That’s what I call my future self, the one that is retired and hopefully kickin’ it some place warm and sunny. It’s so easy to put retirement on the side because who wants to think about getting older, right? I get it. In fact, my retirement isn’t where it should be. I’m in the catch up game from my 20’s and it’s a tough one to play. Newsflash: it’s really hard to catch up to compound interest. So contribute what you can my friend.
HOLD THE VISION
I know…I say this all of the time, but that vision is really important, friend. When we don’t know what we are going for, our money will spend itself. You’ll wake up one day and think, “Crap…what have I been doing all of these years!?”. Let me give you a pro tip: it’s okay to want more than what you have. If you find yourself saying, “I should be happy”...that’s an alarm bell we want to pay attention to. We got one ride in this 3D world, no “shoulds”. Happiness IS the goal. And every single person deserves it.

No, we don’t want to just go willy nilly asking for whatever number sounds good. Do your research for your industry. Write down how you contribute, the metrics you’ve moved and the badassery that you provide and ASK. You know what? Men usually aren’t afraid to ask. Unfortunately, if you identify as a woman, odds are you’ve overthought this a bit and didn’t go for that bigger job or promotion because there was one thing that you didn’t feel qualified for. You’ve heard me say it before: every day for the rest of your life, money will be there. Money is the OG of your relationships and we need to keep it dialed in. Listen, when we don’t feel comfortable with money we push it away. And that’s unfortunate because most of us want more of it. Be curious as to why you are uncomfortable with your moolah friend. It sounds cheesy but it has a PROFOUND impact on your financial health and wealth.
