5 Actions To Close Out 2020

I’m not gonna say 2020 was a dumpster fire. I’m just not going to do it. Instead, I’m giving you 5 simple money, time & energy actions you can take from December 28 - January 1, 2021. Ready? Let’s go.

December 28, 2020 - Gratitude

Why do I preach about gratitude so much?  It’s the ultimate teacher my friend. Until we’ve been successful in reprogramming our lack laden thoughts, we need to practice mindfulness around the abundance that we do have in our lives. AND...it’s just a good human practice to recognize the privilege and the beauty in our lives. Especially when life throws us some curveballs. What are you grateful for this year in 2020. Be sure to think about all of your resources (money, time and energy) and your relationships.

December 29, 2020 - Clearing

Let it go Boo!  Today is full moon energy and it’s the perfect time to let things go.  When it comes to our money, time and energy - let’s do some house cleaning.

Money: review your memberships, and any other financial commitments and really assess if they served you well in 2020 and you deem them valuable to come along for the ride in 2021. Managing our money flow is greatly about checking in to see if the things we have committed to are still in alignment for us.

Time: Well, this year was a bit bananas, but I’m guessing it did bring to light for you some areas of your life where you were spending time that didn’t feel valuable.  Today, review those calendars and activities and decide if anything needs to sunset with 2020.

Energy:  How did you feel in 2020? For some, you got rest. For others, you were stressed more than ever. Whatever it looked like, let’s decide on what you want your energy to feel like in 2021. Based on this, you get to decide if your time and money decisions are supporting this intention. Remember, we don’t have to do a 180 or make massive changes to get results. Sometimes the small tweak has the most magic.

December 30, 2020 - Intention

I’m a recovering goal setter. Like, “put blinders on and miss the ride” type of goal setter. These days, I’m more on the intention train. There are a few reasons for this. First, it shifts my energy and focus to how I want to FEEL. And this simple shift allows me to be flexible on the journey. Because, as I say…#life loves to show up and the reality is, we can plan all day long, but we can’t really ever really know what will unfold and being flexible in the process will help you stay in alignment because you aren’t sticking with something simply because you said you were going to stick with it.  Yeah?  Yes, let’s sprinkle in some goals, but let’s for sure know how we want to feel as we conquer them.

Today, take a moment and set an intention for your money relationship. How do you want it to feel?  Happy? Do you want it to be simple?  Whatever it is, let’s state it.  Keep in mind, you can apply this to your whole life friend.

December 31, 2020 -  Preparation

You know why a lot of resolutions fail? We didn’t prepare. And let me clarify one point here: part of the preparation is actually knowing your current habits and behaviors. So yeah, we need to think through what integrating any intentions looks like, but we also have to see where we are now. Whatever your intention is, choose an area of your life and think about what 2020 looked like. Will this intention be a drastic departure of your current habits and behaviors? This is what we want to be aware of. We are in the business of creating new, sustainable habits. Not dieting our way to a new you.

January 1, 2021 - Embody

Not everyone claims this day as their start to the year, and that’s cool. For me, I love a good start at the first of the month. Whatever your intention was and whatever you are releasing from 2020, now is the moment to actually embody it and integrate it into your daily life. It’s the small actions friends. A great action to take: put some reminders in your calendar to check in periodically to see how your intention is going. This is how we learn, adjust and keep moving. Without the space to reflect, we will be stuck in a cycle of judging ourselves based on perfection. And that’s not possible, nor is it desirable. We are perfectly imperfect. So let’s celebrate it and acknowledge our progress. Today, feel joy in your heart and excitement for the opportunity that awaits. Know and believe that you do have the power to create a life you love.

Remember sweet soul, simple actions done over will almost always blow your mind with their impact.

I like to keep myself on track with The Betty Life 90 Day Journal.  I created this journal because I wanted to set a vision and intentions in 90 day cycles and I wanted a space to write daily and check off my to-do list. I couldn’t find it, so I created it!  You can take a peek at it here! (Pssst. It comes with a mini course to help you maximize your pages).

Here’s to the new frontier!
